On August 11, 2020, in a Federal Register Notice (FRN) 2020-17599, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued guidance on the country of origin marking for goods produced in Hong Kong. The guidance indicated that the imported goods produced in Hong Kong no longer be marked “Hong Kong” as the origin, it must be marked with the origin “China” unless excepted from marking.
Update: On CSMS #43633412 , CBP announced cargo enter on or after September 25, 2020 must mark the country of origin as “China” instead of Hong Kong.
